The long Bows I build, are built for the person wanting a rugged, fast, smooth drawing, and accurate weapon. I don't put a lot of fluff in them. Seems like all you see anymore are super duper multi-lam, super skinny limb, girls bows out there today, and I guess that's alright if you want something to hang on the wall or to impress the guys down at the local archery shop with how much you paid for all the "fluff", but, after spending many years guiding hunters in Montana, give me a bow that's durable, can take a lickin' by a mule and still get the job done.
I build these bows to last. I grind all the lams myself. I make sure the best materials go into each and every one I build. I build them one at a time and I stand behind every bow I sell.
Why black glass you ask . . . because it makes a better bow, plain and simple.
The Bow above is my new Longbow design. It is a radius/reflex limb design 1 1/4" at the fades - pyramid limb design. It's a fast, sweet shooting bow. The limbs are comprised of two Hard Rock Maple tapers and a lam of Hickory. If you want a "no fluff" fast, smooth, accurate, and dependable Long Bow at a reasonable price, this is it! Riser woods are up to you! $375.00 + s.h.
I require $150.00 down and the balance on completion. email me if you want one bowyer@cowichearchery.com
See bottom of page for more info For those of you interested in communicating with other Bowyers, I have put up a Forum page

( the bow in the picture is not finished yet, thus the squared off tips. I'm waiting for the customer to bring me the Elk horn he wants for tip overlays.)
This is the longbow on the ELB build page. it is 68" overall, 66" knock to Knock. The backing is deer rawhide over a thin layer of Pignut Hickory, a core lamination of Ipe, and a Belly lamination of Osage orange taken from an old fence post. The bow has two inches of set back after 100 shots!
I've been told by some pretty well known Bowyers that ipe is too heavy for a bow. Guess this bow wasn't listening. Because it is a real shooter!
Moral of the story: just because someone say's it wont work doesn't mean it's true.
Experimentation is the mother of invention.
Say what ever happened to the Mothers of Invention anyway?
