Well I've finally found the time to get this bow building website on the road! I'm going to take you step by step through building a Bamboo Longbow.
Over the years I've built just about every type of bow there is, from selfbows to fiberglass takedown recurves. For my money a good Bamboo Longbow is the way to go for a fast, hard-hitting, sweet-shooting, durable, forgiving, and fun hunting or 3D Bow. I will also be offering a tutorial to you guys that want to experience the ultimate in traditional archery; taking a big game animal with a Bow you built yourself.

The Bow above is my new Longbow design. It is a reflex limb design 1 1/4" at the fades - pyrimid limb design tapered to 1/2" at the tips. It's a fast, sweet shooting bow. The limbs are comprised of two bamboo lams and a lam of Hickory. Riser woods are up to you! $375.00 + s.h.
I require 1/2 down and the balance on completion. email me if you want one bowyer@cowichearchery.com
See bottom of page for more info For those of you interested in communicating with other Bowyers, I have put up a Forum page

I Took this photo while looking for Elk and Huckleberries thought you might enjoy it. I also saw a large Grey Wolf that day. No Elk were sighted, I wonder if ther is a connection?!!

66" overall, 65" knock to knock

This particular bow is 55# @ 28"
Will build with your choice of riser wood $375.00 + s.h.

( the bow in the picture is not finished yet, thus the squared off tips. I'm waiting for the customer to bring me the Elk horn he wants for tip overlays.)
This is the same model Longbow with a Cocobolo Riser. The arrows in the photo are from Plenty Coups Archery. (www.plentycoupsarchery.com)
This is the longbow on the ELB build page. it is 68" overall, 66" knock to Knock. The backing is deer rawhide over a thin layer of Pignut Hickory, a core lamination of Ipe, and a Belly lamination of Osage orange taken from an old fence post. The bow has two inches of set back after 100 shots!
I've been told by some pretty well known Bowyers that ipe is too heavy for a bow. Guess this bow wasn't listening. Because it is a real shooter!
Moral of the story: just because someone say's it wont work doesn't mean it's true.
Experimentation is the mother of invention.
Say what ever happened to the Mothers of Invention anyway?
